Former Ipswich Town striker Ben Morris, now playing for USL Championship outfit Detroit City, has sustained the third ACL injury of his career.
Morris, who hails from Colchester, spent nearly 16 years with Ipswich Town, progressing through the club’s academy. He made a single senior start in the 2-1 loss to Nottingham Forest in April 2018 and featured as a substitute in four other matches.
During his time with the Blues, Morris had loan spells at Woking, Forest Green Rovers, and Swedish club GAIS. He also represented England at U17, U18, and U19 levels, playing alongside the likes of Flynn Downes, Andre Dozzell, Tristan Nydam, Nick Hayes, and George Hirst.
Unfortunately, Morris’s time at Town was disrupted by two serious knee injuries, suffering ACL tears in February 2019 and again in August 2020—just eight months after returning from the first.
The 25-year-old moved to Detroit City before the 2023 season and has since made 89 appearances, netting 18 goals for Le Rouge.
However, he now faces another lengthy spell out of action after sustaining a third ACL injury during training, which will sideline him for the remainder of the season.
Several of his former Town academy teammates, including Tristan Nydam and Fraser Alexander, have sent messages of support wishing him a speedy recovery.
