Crystal Palace Stun Liverpool as Klopp Praises Glasner’s “Miraculous” Impact

Crystal Palace are making headlines across the Premier League following a stunning win over Liverpool.

A dramatic late goal from Eddie Nketiah propelled Palace to second place in the table on Saturday and extended their remarkable unbeaten run to 18 games — a feat not achieved at Selhurst Park since 1969.

Although Arsenal’s 2-1 win over Newcastle on Sunday dropped Palace to third, the buzz around Oliver Glasner’s transformation of the team continues to grow. Even Liverpool legend Jürgen Klopp has taken notice.

Klopp: Glasner Has Worked “Miracles”

In an exclusive interview with The Athletic, Klopp was asked about the job Glasner has done at Crystal Palace, as well as Andoni Iraola’s efforts at Bournemouth — currently sixth in the league despite key summer departures.

“Wow, they are doing miracles,” Klopp said. “A lot of things change. I don’t have a strong opinion on their style of play. The football I tend to watch is mostly Red Bull teams.”

While Klopp’s Liverpool often dominated Palace — winning 13 of 18 encounters, scoring 41 goals and conceding just 16 — he did suffer a rare defeat to Glasner during their only meeting. His successor, Arne Slot, has also struggled against Glasner’s Palace, winning just one of four matches since taking over at Anfield in June 2024.

Red Bull and RB Leipzig Interested in Glasner

Currently serving as Head of Global Soccer at Red Bull, Klopp is said to be a strong admirer of Glasner. According to We Are Palace’s Graeme Bailey, Klopp even considered the Austrian tactician as a possible replacement for Marco Rose at RB Leipzig.

Though RB Leipzig eventually appointed Ole Werner on a short two-year contract, speculation remains that Glasner is still on their radar — particularly with his current Crystal Palace contract set to expire in June 2026.

Crystal Palace’s new Sporting Director, Matt Hobbs, is reportedly keen to tie Glasner down to a new deal before the January transfer window.

One can only hope Klopp’s glowing praise — calling Glasner “miraculous” — isn’t a subtle attempt to lure him away from SE25.
