“We didn’t play great in the second half, but we fought for second balls, did the small things right — those things win you games. If you’re not playing well, you make sure the other team doesn’t either. That’s what top teams do over a season.”
Amorim on Amad’s Emotional Return and Impact
One of the highlights of the match was the return of Amad Diallo, who started against his former club after time away due to a family bereavement. Amorim was full of praise for the 23-year-old winger’s impact at both ends of the pitch.
“I’m really pleased with Amad,” Amorim said.
“He defended well and, in attack, we already know his quality. Every time he’s in a 1v1, he creates something. He also helps Bryan [Mbeumo] by allowing him to play more centrally, without having to worry so much about making runs in behind.”
