“‘Some Things Never Change!’ Grant Holt’s Latest Antics Drive Ipswich Fans Mad!”

Norwich City legend Grant Holt turned back the clock as he stirred up Ipswich fans during Dereham Town’s latest victory.

The former Canaries striker, now an academy coach and club ambassador, provided the assist for the opening goal in Dereham’s 2–1 win over Ipswich Wanderers.

Holt celebrated passionately with the home supporters as the long-standing rivalry, dating back to 2010, was rekindled.

His deft header set up Charlie Clarke for a simple finish before Harvey Stiff equalised for the visitors. However, Ryan Hawkins sealed the win for Dereham from the penalty spot.

Dereham Town’s official X account couldn’t resist a cheeky dig at their opponents, posting:
“Grant Holt isn’t quite done with Ipswich just yet. His headed assist silenced the Ipswich Wanderers faithful in our excellent 2–1 victory! Some things never change.”

The 44-year-old joined Dereham Town in February 2024 as part of a consortium and also signed on as a player for the ninth-tier club.

Just last month, Holt announced his new role as coach of Norwich City’s under-14s, saying it “feels great to be back in the building and passing some knowledge on to the younger generation.”

Fifteen years ago, Holt famously netted a hat-trick against Ipswich Town, sparking a 14-match unbeaten run for Norwich in the East Anglian derby — a streak that ended only recently with a 3–1 defeat at Portman Road before the international break.
