Gyokeres Praises Former Everton Forward
Everton have boasted some impressive attacking talent in years past, and one former Toffee in particular has caught Gyokeres’ admiration.
During a segment on the Ballon d’Or’s social media channels, the Arsenal forward took part in a “blind ranking” of current and former strikers. While discussing his choices, he placed Samuel Eto’o above Liverpool’s record signing Alexander Isak.
“Very good player, but I didn’t watch him much. Sorry, I have to put him seventh,” Gyokeres said when ranking Isak. The Swedish striker ultimately placed his compatriot last — tenth overall — while Brazilian Ronaldo claimed the top spot in his list.
Interestingly, Everton are reportedly looking to bolster their forward line with another Brazilian. According to Everton News sources, the club maintains strong interest in bringing Richarlison back to Goodison Park, and the player is said to be open to the move.
Eto’o’s Time at Everton
Although Samuel Eto’o’s spell at Everton came late in his illustrious career, the former Cameroon international still produced flashes of brilliance. In 20 appearances for the Toffees, he scored four goals, including a memorable brace in a 3–1 away win over Burnley.
