Jeff Stelling Sounds Alarm Over Leeds United’s Scoring Woes Ahead of Nottingham Forest Clash

Jeff Stelling has pinpointed Leeds United’s poor scoring record in the Premier League as a serious concern heading into their upcoming fixture against Nottingham Forest.

Leeds are set to face Forest at the City Ground on 9 November, following a 3–0 defeat to Brighton last weekend — a result that dealt a heavy blow after their encouraging 2–1 win over West Ham earlier in the month.

With Daniel Farke’s side now desperate to bounce back, Stelling believes the Leeds boss must urgently address the team’s away form and lack of cutting edge in front of goal.

Speaking on talkSPORT on 6 November, Stelling predicted a 2–0 win for Nottingham Forest, warning that Leeds’ poor finishing could drag them deeper into relegation trouble.

“Could this already be a relegation six-pointer?” Stelling asked. “Leeds’ lack of firepower away from home is a real problem — they’ve failed to score in four of their last five Premier League away games. Forest, meanwhile, look revitalised under Sean Dyche. A win for them, and they’d be just two points behind Leeds. Nottingham Forest two, Leeds nil.”

Forest have shown encouraging signs under Dyche, going unbeaten in their last two matches. A home win would leave Leeds in a precarious position near the bottom of the table.

Leeds Struggling to Create Away From Home

Leeds’ inability to generate quality chances away from home is now becoming a defining weakness. Against Brighton, the Whites produced just 0.50 expected goals (xG) — a worrying figure.

That trend continued against Burnley (0.45 xG) and Fulham (0.79 xG), both ending in defeat. Even in their 3–1 win over Wolves, Leeds only managed 0.48 xG, with four total shots and just one on target.

That match now looks like an anomaly rather than a turning point, as Wolves dominated nearly every attacking metric but failed to capitalise.

For Leeds to get anything from Sunday’s clash, Farke’s men will need to find a way to create more clear-cut opportunities and rediscover their scoring touch on the road.
