Danny Röhl seems to have found one name that’s impossible to leave out of his Rangers lineup — and Djeidi Gassama’s performance in the 3–0 victory over Dundee proved exactly why.

Since taking charge, the German manager has rotated his squad effectively, giving most players a chance to impress in his first three Premiership matches.

The results have spoken for themselves — three wins out of three and a growing sense of confidence around Ibrox.

Röhl now appears to be closing in on his strongest starting XI, and Gassama has made an emphatic case to be a permanent fixture.

The 22-year-old Frenchman has struggled for consistency since arriving in the summer, but his showing at Dens Park was a reminder of his enormous potential.

Operating in an unfamiliar wing-back role, Gassama was a constant threat down the flank, blending flair with discipline.

He completed two dribbles, worked tirelessly off the ball, and sealed the win with a stunning curling strike from the edge of the area in stoppage time.

Even more impressively, Gassama excelled defensively — winning three tackles, making three recoveries, and triumphing in 64% of his ground duels.

For a player more naturally suited to attacking positions, his defensive awareness and work rate will have delighted Röhl.

While Gassama’s Rangers career has been up and down so far, Röhl’s influence could be the key to unlocking his full potential.

The two share a strong understanding from their time together in South Yorkshire, where Röhl once described Gassama as a “weapon” during an interview with the Sheffield Star in 2023.

That faith appears to be paying off once again. Under Röhl’s guidance, Gassama looks rejuvenated — and if he keeps performing like this, his flashes of brilliance could soon become the norm rather than the exception.
