Dominic Calvert-Lewin reveals how he actually feels after leaving Everton for Leeds United

Dominic Calvert-Lewin has now spoken about how he truly feels months after leaving Everton, at a time when the Toffees continue to struggle in front of goal.

Although Everton secured the signing of Thierno Barry during the summer, it quickly became clear that the young forward would need time and patience before making a major impact.

Scoring has been a recurring problem for David Moyes’ side throughout the season, with Iliman Ndiaye once again carrying much of the attacking burden.

That concern is set to grow next month when the Senegal striker departs for the Africa Cup of Nations.

Everton News understands the club intend to bring in a new striker in the January transfer window.

Calvert-Lewin, meanwhile, is now several months into life away from Merseyside after making the switch to another Premier League club over the summer. The 28-year-old has now reflected on his departure and how he is settling in at his new home.

Calvert-Lewin sends honest Everton message after Leeds United move

Wayne Rooney recently praised Calvert-Lewin following his exit from Everton to join Premier League rivals Leeds United. Despite battling long-term injury issues, the striker amassed 273 appearances for the Toffees.

Speaking on the One on One podcast, Calvert-Lewin admitted he felt ready for a fresh chapter after nine years at the club.

“Absolutely, yeah. It’s been a breath of fresh air coming into a new environment,” he said. “Nine years is a long time to be anywhere. I reached a point where I was craving a new challenge and a fresh environment, so I’m absolutely happy to be here.”

Calvert-Lewin was a favourite of former Everton boss Carlo Ancelotti, but injuries repeatedly disrupted his progress during his final years at Goodison Park.

Although Everton are still struggling to score, his departure has not significantly changed their attacking output — and Calvert-Lewin is also finding goals hard to come by at Leeds.

Everton’s striker issues continue into January

After letting Calvert-Lewin leave, Moyes had been determined to sign two forwards in the summer window. That remains a key reason why the club will enter January with a strong intention of adding a reliable goalscorer.

While Daniel Farke has seen flashes of Calvert-Lewin’s quality at Leeds, the 28-year-old is experiencing many of the same problems in front of goal that marked the latter stages of his Everton career.

The hunt for a consistent striker on Merseyside will now roll on into the January window.
