New Philippe Clement footage has got Norwich City fans talking – I ‘love this guy already’
Norwich City supporters have been buzzing after watching footage of newly appointed manager Philippe Clement addressing his squad for the first time.
Clement stepped into the role following the club’s decision to part ways with Liam Manning at the start of the November international break.
Manning had only arrived in the summer after guiding Bristol City to their first Championship play-off appearance in 17 years, but a disappointing return of just two wins from 15 league games led to his dismissal.
Several names—including Gary O’Neil and Jon Dahl Tomasson—were linked with the vacancy, but it was Clement who ultimately secured the job. With a résumé that includes spells at Rangers, Monaco, and Club Brugge, his appointment generated widespread excitement among the Norwich fanbase.
Clement’s first day in charge
Not long after confirming his arrival, the club released footage documenting Clement’s first official day. The video showed him leading a training session, meeting his coaching staff, and delivering his opening message to the squad.
The Belgian emphasised mentality, discipline, and ambition, stressing that a return to the Premier League would require total commitment.
“I demand one thing,” Clement told his players. “If you want to play, I need hungry, ambitious people in everything you do.
Not just in training with the ball, but in your recovery routines, your strength work, your diet, your sleep, your rest. This club has ambitions to reach the Premier League, and I believe you want that too. But it isn’t a given.
Hard work is essential—and once you learn to love that hard work, you become a top player.”
The strong, focused message only heightened the optimism already building around his arrival.
Fans react to Philippe Clement’s speech
Norwich supporters were quick to share their enthusiasm after watching the footage, praising Clement’s standards and attitude—qualities many felt had been missing in recent years.
One fan commented:
“Love this guy already—he’s so different from the rest of this mess of a club.”
Another added:
“Different gravy compared with Manning!”
Broadcaster Jake Humphrey, a well-known Norwich supporter, simply wrote:
“Love this.”
Even Rangers fans, despite Clement’s mixed tenure in Scotland, offered positive insights. Though he spent 16 months at Ibrox without toppling Celtic, many felt he was hampered by circumstances rather than ability.
A Rangers supporter wrote:
“You’ve got a good manager there. He was given poor cards with us—don’t let that mislead you. In the right environment, he’s top class.”
Another added:
“You’ll do well with Big Phil. Things got tough towards the end for him here, but he still got a tune out of players others had written off.”
What lies ahead for Clement and Norwich?
Before Clement can dream of Premier League promotion, his immediate task is stabilising the team and lifting them out of the relegation zone.
Still, with his high-level European experience and strong leadership presence, many believe he could prove a major asset for Norwich in the long term.
