‘Resilient as usual’: Chris Sutton Predicts Outcome of Manchester United V Everton

Pundit Chris Sutton has shared his prediction for Monday night’s clash at Old Trafford, and he expects a close battle. However, he believes Everton’s ongoing issues in front of goal will ultimately cost David Moyes and his team.

Sutton says the Toffees will be “resilient as usual,” but without a reliable scorer, they may struggle to make an impact. He is forecasting a narrow 1-0 defeat for Everton.

“David Moyes will make things difficult for United on his return to Old Trafford, and his side will be resilient as usual, but I don’t think they will hold out,” he explained.

“If Everton had a proper number nine who could consistently score, the result would be harder to call. As it stands, I don’t see them troubling United’s defence. I’m keeping Beto in my Fantasy team—because if I dropped him, he’d start and score—but with Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha, United have far more attacking threat.”

Everton Still Pose a Challenge

Ruben Amorim’s Everton side are unbeaten in their last five Premier League matches, having recorded three wins and two draws. They entered the international break boosted by a strong performance and a much-needed win against Fulham.

Only three points separate Everton and United heading into Monday night’s game, although United sit six places higher in the table. A victory could push Moyes’ side upwards, but they remain only five points above the relegation zone.

Everton will be without midfielder Merlin Rohl, who recently underwent surgery for a hernia and is expected to be sidelined until next month—an untimely setback, especially with the Africa Cup of Nations approaching.

Sutton’s assessment that Everton lack a proven goalscorer is fair, as that shortcoming has often hurt them in big games. But this United team is far from unbeatable.

Everton simply need to be bold and take the game to them.
