Martin Keown, commenting on Final Score (via BBC Sport), drew parallels to a recent incident during the international break: “We saw a very similar situation midweek when a penalty was given against Scotland.
This one is deemed to have happened outside the box, so that’s controversial.” Wolves were arguably fortunate in this instance, marking a rare moment of luck for them with VAR decisions.
However, the decisions soon went the other way. Jorgen Strand Larsen was judged to have fouled Maxence Lacroix, stopping what could have been a clear chance on goal—much to the delight of Rob Edwards.
Referee Anthony Taylor had plenty of calls to make throughout the match, and Crystal Palace may feel some of the decisions went against them.
