Micah Richards has recently confronted Carragher on air about his Everton ties during CBS’s Champions League coverage — a show where Carragher frequently mocks his Everton-supporting producer.
Wednesday followed the same pattern. After Liverpool’s equaliser, Carragher couldn’t resist a dig before the Reds ultimately collapsed 4–1 to PSV Eindhoven.
“1-1! Myles [producer], come here a minute. You know what I said to you before — you Evertonians never learn… just keep your mouth shut,” Carragher quipped.
But Everton supporters certainly enjoyed the last laugh, as Liverpool have now conceded seven goals across their last two fixtures.
Even Duncan Ferguson has publicly criticised Carragher in recent months, accusing him of once supporting Everton as a youngster. Carragher’s comments mid-broadcast left him red-faced when Slot’s team suffered a humiliating defeat soon after.
Everton could widen the gap over Liverpool this weekend
At present, only a single point separates the two rivals in the Premier League table. For the first time in 11 years, Everton sit above Liverpool after the first 12 matches of a league campaign.
However, expectations on Merseyside are much higher this season. Moyes is energised by the summer reinforcements provided by the Friedkin ownership group and is hoping to push Everton toward European qualification. Another win this weekend could propel the Toffees into those positions.
