Norwich City boss Philippe Clement has once again spoken with Belgian media about the major challenge he faces at the Championship club.
The 51-year-old was appointed earlier this month and has already taken charge of two games for the Canaries.
Het Nieuwsblad visited Clement in Norwich to see how he is settling in and were able to speak with him at length.
The scale of the job is significant, with some suggesting that even Pep Guardiola wouldn’t be able to fix the problems at Norwich. When asked about that comparison, Clement responded:
“I don’t want to compare myself to Pep. He has won everything there is to win. But I believe in this project, and I see a lot of potential here.”
Many in Belgium – including Het Nieuwsblad – assumed the former Rangers coach would take on a “more prestigious” role than Norwich City.
Addressing those expectations, Clement said:
“I understand why people think that, but I’m not afraid of a challenge and I see a lot of potential here. There is also a great deal of work ahead of us.”
Just last week, Clement’s assistant, Stephan Van Der Heyden, revealed that the new coaching staff have already spotted several key issues at the club. Norwich currently sit 23rd in the table with 10 points from 17 games.
Clement is experienced enough to know exactly what he has stepped into. He believes he can turn things around and has been motivated by the vision outlined by the club’s ownership.
