Oxford United travel to Lancashire following a disappointing 2-0 defeat to struggling Swansea City on Saturday, with both goals coming late in the first half. Despite Portsmouth’s defeat over the weekend, the U’s remain only one point clear of the relegation zone.

“The ongoing issues with Blackburn’s pitch are becoming increasingly awkward. It’s unfortunate that two matches have now been abandoned while Rovers were ahead. Ismaël must now turn that disappointment into motivation.

Oxford will see this as an opportunity, but although they’ve ground out some important results this season, their away form has largely been poor and they lack the cutting edge needed in games like this. If the match is completed in full, I’m backing Blackburn to edge it.”

“Blackburn will understandably still be frustrated after the Sheffield Wednesday match was called off. With two games already abandoned, they could easily have several more points on the board.

The pitch situation clearly needs addressing. Oxford, meanwhile, are struggling to find consistency and are in a fight for survival under Gary Rowett.

After a weak showing in their 2-0 defeat at Swansea, I expect them to face another tough away day in Lancashire.”
