Everton suffered a 2-0 defeat to Enzo Maresca’s Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Saturday, despite putting in a respectable away performance.

The visitors were dealt an early blow when Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall was forced off inside the opening 20 minutes. Manager David Moyes confirmed that Dewsbury-Hall’s hamstring injury was pre-existing, and further tests will be needed.

Garner, whose current contract is set to expire at the end of the season, is reportedly in discussions to extend his stay at Everton. Saturday’s performance is likely to strengthen his position in those negotiations.
