Daniel Farke responds when asked if he will make January signing at Leeds United

With the January transfer window drawing closer, Leeds United continue to be linked with a long list of potential arrivals, even after managing director Robbie Evans played down the club’s ability to spend because of their PSR situation.

Leeds attempted a late move for Harry Wilson on deadline day, but Evans later suggested that any further additions would have pushed the club beyond PSR limits.

However, that stance raised eyebrows. It is possible Leeds were prepared to stretch those limits in the summer, knowing there would be time to balance the books before the June 30 cut-off.

Whether Evans’ comments were designed to deter selling clubs or simply to lower expectations for January remains unclear, but reinforcements still appear necessary.

Speaking ahead of Saturday night’s clash with Crystal Palace — the first of two matches before the window opens — Farke was cautious about discussing transfer plans.

The Leeds head coach highlighted how challenging the January market can be, stressing that there are fewer options and limited time to integrate new players compared to the summer.

Farke explained that January recruits often come with issues, whether it’s inflated prices or a lack of rhythm, and admitted he tends to be selective at this time of year.

However, he added that the club remains alert, and if an affordable option emerges that genuinely improves the squad, Leeds must be ready to act.

Among the names linked is Swiss international Ruben Vargas, currently at Sevilla after a move from Augsburg, who has contributed to seven La Liga goals this season.

Manchester United forward Joshua Zirkzee has also been mentioned, with his ability to link midfield and attack making him an intriguing option for Farke.

Chelsea pair Tyrique George and Raheem Sterling, along with Ireland striker Troy Parrott, have also been touted as possible targets.

A positive result against Crystal Palace on Saturday could further strengthen the feeling that Leeds may already have enough within the squad, potentially reducing the urgency for January additions.
