Danny Rohl make honest assessment on Rangers disallowed goal vs hearts

Danny Rohl has shared his thoughts on Rangers’ disallowed goal against Hearts last weekend, describing the decision as a “really tight” call.

Bojan Miovski believed he had given Rangers the lead on the road after converting from close range, following Emmanuel Fernandez’s header from a set-piece.

The goal was initially awarded, but a VAR review led to officials at Clydesdale House overturning the decision.

Speaking ahead of Rangers’ next fixture against Motherwell on December 27, Rohl accepted that marginal decisions are an inevitable part of the game and acknowledged that they can go both ways.

“It’s really tight. Sometimes I’m not sure exactly where the action is stopped and whether it’s precisely the right moment,” Rohl said.

“These situations will happen in many games, where it’s so close that you can’t be certain it’s offside. In the end, a decision was made, and it was unlucky for us.”

Rohl also felt the disallowed goal took the edge off what had been a strong start from his side.

“At that moment, I looked over at the opposition bench and they were clearly impressed with how we began the game — our organisation, our structure, and the way we played,” he added. “We won a lot of second balls and everything felt good, but ultimately we didn’t get the result we wanted.”

After the controversy, Hearts struck twice in the first half through Stuart Findlay and Lawrence Shankland.

A late goal from Youssef Chermiti offered Rangers brief hope, but the league leaders held on for victory, extending their advantage at the top of the table to 12 points over the Ibrox side.
