West Ham slipped to a disappointing 1–0 defeat against Fulham at the London Stadium, extending their miserable run of form.
After being thrashed 3–0 by Manchester City last time out, the Hammers were expected to show a reaction against Fulham, but once again they fell short.
A lack of attacking intent plagued Nuno Espírito Santo’s side, with the decision not to start a recognised striker proving costly.
Things improved slightly when Callum Wilson was introduced, as West Ham finally showed some presence higher up the pitch. However, the improvement came too late, and Raul Jimenez’s late strike ultimately settled the contest.
The defeat means West Ham are now winless in seven matches, piling further pressure on Nuno Espírito Santo, whose future at the club is increasingly uncertain.
Todibo shines despite defeat
In a match short on attacking quality, both sides were largely solid at the back. For West Ham, Jean-Clair Todibo stood out as the standout performer.
The French defender was dominant in his duels, composed in possession, and even carried the ball forward when opportunities arose.
One such moment did result in a booking after a moment of frustration, but overall he was comfortably the best defender on the pitch and rarely looked troubled.
Paqueta’s future in doubt
Lucas Paqueta, however, endured another difficult afternoon. Once again, the Brazilian failed to influence proceedings, frequently giving the ball away and offering little creativity, particularly in the first half.
If West Ham are to steer clear of relegation trouble, they need their key players to step up — something Paqueta has struggled to do consistently. With the January transfer window approaching, interest is expected, and the club may consider cashing in while they can.
