Dwight McNeil played the full 90 minutes as Everton were held to a 0-0 draw at Burnley’s Turf Moor.

With Jack Grealish sidelined through injury, David Moyes opted to start the 26-year-old against his former club on Saturday afternoon.

McNeil featured on the left wing but struggled to make an impact, contributing only one notable pass throughout the match.

McNeil Set to Be Dropped Against Nottingham Forest

After securing a point against Burnley, Everton now turn their attention to Nottingham Forest in the Premier League.

Sean Dyche will face his former club at the City Ground on 30 December, with Everton entering the fixture as slight favourites.

Forest, currently 17th in the table, are desperate for a win to move further clear of West Ham, who sit five points behind in 18th.

Grealish is expected to return for the encounter, likely replacing McNeil, whose display against Burnley was underwhelming. His return could significantly boost Everton’s attacking threat.

McNeil’s Poor Performance Against Burnley

According to Sofascore, McNeil was Everton’s second-worst performer on Saturday. He attempted four crosses, none of which found their target, and lost possession 13 times.

His passing accuracy was below par at just 75%, completing only 18 passes.

Known for his ability to take on defenders and drive into the box, McNeil failed to attempt a single dribble.

His defensive contribution was limited as well, winning only two of his four attempted tackles. In aerial duels, he was dominated, winning just one of four contests, a 25% success rate.

Given these stats, Grealish would likely outperform McNeil across most metrics, making his inclusion against Forest an obvious decision for Moyes.
