Rangers set to seal spectacular DOUBLE signing in game-changing swoop for Danny Rohl

Rangers are on the brink of making a significant splash in the January transfer window, with sources indicating that a potentially transformative double deal is close to being finalised.

Moves for SK Sturm Graz midfielder Tochi Chukwuani and KVC Westerlo left-back Tuur Rommens are both at an advanced stage, with the combined cost expected to be in the region of £7 million.

Rangers’ interest in Chukwuani was confirmed on 8 January, while their pursuit of Rommens dates back to late December. Sources now say that bids for both 22-year-olds have been accepted, handing manager Danny Rohl a major early boost as he continues his push in the Scottish Premiership title race.

Sturm Graz have given the green light to a £4 million transfer for Chukwuani, with the Danish-Nigerian midfielder set to travel to Scotland shortly to undergo a medical and agree personal terms.

Standing at 6ft 1in, the Denmark Under-21 international is highly regarded for his physical presence, forward-thinking passing and ability to operate both as a defensive midfielder and a box-to-box option.

He has impressed since joining the Austrian champions in 2024, playing a key role in their title-winning campaign and even facing Rangers in the Europa League.

At the same time, Westerlo have accepted an offer believed to be between £3 million and £3.5 million for Rommens. The Belgian Under-21 left-back is expected to bolster a problem area for Rangers, providing both competition and cover. He has caught the eye in the Jupiler Pro League with his attacking intent and defensive reliability, emerging as Rohl’s top target after Rangers failed in a bid to sign James Penrice from AEK Athens.

Rommens has already completed his medical, with an official announcement now imminent. He is set to sign a three-and-a-half-year contract at Ibrox.

Rangers technical director Dan Purdy has played a key role in pushing both deals forward, with the arrivals directly addressing priority areas in midfield and at left-back. Chukwuani’s existing relationship with Mohamed Diomande, forged during their time together at FC Nordsjælland, adds further intrigue to the move.

These signings would mark Rohl’s first permanent additions since taking charge, injecting youth, athleticism and European experience into a squad competing on multiple fronts. While Chukwuani still needs to complete his medical and final details, official confirmation for both players could arrive as early as today.
