Curtis Nelson has expressed his gratitude to Derby County and their supporters following his departure to join MK Dons.
The 32-year-old defender made 83 appearances for the Rams during a two-and-a-half-year stay at Pride Park.
During that time, he worked under head coach Paul Warne, playing a key role in Derby’s promotion from League One and helping the club retain its place in the Championship.
However, injuries over the past year restricted Nelson to just two appearances, with his final outing coming on Boxing Day as a half-time substitute in the 1-1 draw against Birmingham City.
After completing his move to MK Dons on Thursday, Nelson shared a heartfelt farewell message on social media.
“Thank you to all the fans for the last two and a half seasons at this amazing club,” he wrote. “Your support, both home and away, is second to none. There’s nothing better than a bouncing Pride Park.
“The memories will stay with me forever, especially achieving promotion back to the Championship.
A big thank you to all the staff at Moor Farm and Pride Park who work tirelessly behind the scenes to keep this great club running.
“And to the players and coaches who always made sure I was ready for training and matchdays.
“Special mention must go to the medical and strength and conditioning teams for getting me back on the pitch for the best part of eight months. It wasn’t easy or pretty, but they helped me through some really tough moments.”
