“I think…”: Former EFL man shares Oxford United vs QPR score prediction

QPR return to Championship action on Tuesday night with an away fixture at Oxford United. Former EFL player Sam Parkin has tipped QPR to claim victory on the road.

The Hoops come into the match following a 0-0 draw against Stoke City at the Bet365 Stadium, where neither side could find a breakthrough.

After 27 games, QPR sit 11th in the Championship table, four points shy of the play-offs, with Preston North End occupying sixth place.

Parkin, who has played for Swindon Town, Ipswich Town, and Luton Town, shared his score prediction for the clash at the Kassam Stadium on the Benjamin Bloom YouTube channel:

“I probably would have happily backed a QPR win a few months ago. Maybe the gap is a little tighter now given their injury issues and recent lack of goals, Sheffield Wednesday aside. I think it’ll be close, but I still go for QPR, especially after their stalemate at Stoke. They’ll find a way to edge it 2-1.”

QPR appointed Julien Stephan as head coach last summer, following Marti Cifuentes’ move to Leicester City.

The Frenchman, who has previously managed Rennes and Strasbourg, has adapted well to English football, winning 38% of his 29 games in charge across all competitions.

On the transfer front, QPR strengthened their squad last summer with signings including Richard Kone, Kwame Poku, and Rumarn Burrell.

This January, they added Southampton defender Ronnie Edwards, with the transfer window open until Monday, 2nd February.

The club also has the option to offload players in the coming weeks, freeing up space and funds for further reinforcements.

Stephan’s side are in a strong position to challenge for a top-six finish, though consistency remains a key area for improvement.

Oxford United update ahead of QPR clash
Oxford United recently appointed Matt Bloomfield as their new head coach, succeeding Gary Rowett, who was dismissed after a poor run of results.

The U’s drew 0-0 against Bristol City at home in their last outing, failing to break down the Robins.

Bloomfield, who has previously managed Colchester United, Wycombe Wanderers, and Luton Town, takes over a team currently in the relegation zone alongside Sheffield Wednesday and Norwich City.

Oxford sit 21st, five points adrift of safety, and face the risk of dropping back into League One if results do not improve.
