Russell Martin has moved quickly in the summer transfer window as he looks to bolster his Rangers squad ahead of the new season.
The Ibrox club have already secured six new signings, demonstrating their intent to wrestle the Scottish Premiership title back. Martin, alongside sporting director Kevin Thelwell, has been proactive in the market, with defender Emmanuel Fernandez recently joining from Peterborough United.
But the business isn’t expected to stop there, and one of the latest to react to Rangers’ summer spree is Ipswich Town forward Ali Al-Hamadi.
Rangers Confirm Signing of Thelo Aasgaard
On Saturday, Rangers announced the signing of Thelo Aasgaard. The versatile 23-year-old joined Luton Town in January but couldn’t help them avoid relegation to League One. He’s now opted for a fresh start in Glasgow.
Rangers reportedly paid around £3 million to land the Norwegian international, who previously made his mark at Wigan Athletic and came through Liverpool’s academy.
Reacting to his move, Aasgaard shared on Instagram (5 July):
“New home, new goals, same me. No stopping now.”
Among those congratulating him was Al-Hamadi, who commented:
“Congrats bro.”
Aasgaard Brings Versatility and International Experience
One of Aasgaard’s standout qualities is his versatility. Last season alone, he featured in several positions—ranging from defensive midfield to leading the line as a striker.
His adaptability, combined with international experience, makes him a potentially key figure in the Ibrox dressing room.
