Crystal Palace have confirmed that one of their young prospects will spend the remainder of the season out on loan, with Sheffield Wednesday completing a deal to bring in Tayo Adaramola.

The 22-year-old defender has joined the Championship side on a temporary basis as Palace look to further his development with regular senior football.

Adaramola has made just two first-team appearances for the Eagles to date, both coming in the FA Cup, but he has been part of the club’s setup for a decade, having joined the Selhurst Park academy back in 2015.

A Republic of Ireland youth international, Adaramola has already built up a solid amount of experience away from Palace through a number of loan spells.

He has previously featured for Leyton Orient, Bradford City, and Stockport County, gaining valuable minutes across different levels of the English Football League.

Comfortable operating either as a left wing-back or in a more traditional left-back role, his versatility has made him an attractive option for clubs seeking defensive reinforcement.

Reports from The Star suggested that several League One sides were keen to secure Adaramola’s services for the second half of the campaign. However, Palace were keen for the defender to test himself at Championship level, leading to Sheffield Wednesday winning the race for his signature.

The Owls are enduring a difficult season after being hit with an 18-point deduction following their entry into administration earlier in the campaign. As a result, they currently sit on minus seven points, leaving them 39 points adrift of safety with 51 points still available.

Despite their struggles, Wednesday are continuing to plan for the remainder of the season, and the arrival of Adaramola adds depth to their defensive options.

The loan move has now been officially confirmed, arriving ahead of what could be a hectic transfer deadline day for Crystal Palace. The Eagles are also working on completing a separate deal for striker Jørgen Strand Larsen, having reportedly agreed a club-record fee with Premier League rivals Wolves.

In a statement released by the club, Palace said:
“Crystal Palace can confirm that Tayo Adaramola has joined Sheffield Wednesday on loan until the end of the season.

“The 22-year-old links up with Henrik Pedersen’s side as they continue their Championship campaign.

“Adaramola joined Palace at Under-12 level and signed his first professional contract in 2020. He made his senior debut in February 2022, featuring in FA Cup victories over Hartlepool United and Stoke City.

“He has since gained valuable senior experience during loan spells with Stockport County and Bradford City, playing a key role as the latter secured promotion to League One last season. Most recently, Adaramola made 18 appearances for Leyton Orient during the first half of the 2025/26 campaign.

“Everyone at Crystal Palace wishes Tayo the very best during his loan spell with the Owls.”

The move is viewed as another important step in Adaramola’s development as he looks to gain consistent Championship experience before returning to Selhurst Park.
