Boyd issues ‘forget it’ Rangers vs Celtic title race warning

Kris Boyd has issued a stark warning ahead of the latest showdown between Rangers F.C. and Celtic F.C., insisting that whoever comes out on the losing side can effectively wave goodbye to their Scottish Premiership title hopes.

The former Ibrox striker believes the outcome of this afternoon’s clash could prove pivotal in the race for the crown, with both Glasgow giants attempting to reel in league leaders Heart of Midlothian F.C..
Heading into the match, Rangers sit seven points adrift of Hearts, while Celtic trail the leaders by nine.

Martin O’Neill’s side, however, do have a game in hand that could yet influence the standings.

Despite that, Boyd feels the margin for error has disappeared. Speaking on Sky Sports, he stressed that both sides must treat the encounter as a must-win.

He pointed out that Rangers and Celtic have been preoccupied with one another in recent weeks, while Hearts have quietly continued to collect points.

Boyd praised the league leaders and manager Derek McInnes, saying their position at the summit is fully deserved given their consistency throughout the campaign so far.

For Boyd, the equation is simple: defeat today could be fatal to either side’s ambitions. Even though Celtic have a game in hand, a Rangers victory would open up a five-point gap between the Glasgow rivals.

In his view, whichever team loses this high-stakes encounter can forget about lifting the title.
