‘They were so much better than us’: Oliver Glasner issues response to Tottenham relegation fears

Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner has insisted that it is not his place to comment on Tottenham Hotspur’s potential relegation from the Premier League.

Spurs remain in serious trouble in their battle to avoid the drop, and Thursday night’s 3-1 home defeat to Palace did little to ease those concerns. Despite taking an early lead through Dominic Solanke in a crucial clash, Tottenham’s hopes quickly unraveled after Micky van de Ven received a red card.

Crystal Palace then took full control, with Ismaila Sarr scoring twice and Jørgen Strand Larsen adding another before halftime. The visitors managed the game comfortably in the second half, leaving Spurs just one point above the relegation zone. The half-empty stadium at full-time reflected the grim mood for Tottenham.

When asked in his post-match press conference whether Spurs seemed like a team on the brink of relegation, Glasner replied:

“It’s not my right to talk about Spurs. I focus on my team and my players. For us, this is a fantastic win. I remember two years ago, in our second game of the season, we beat Burnley 3-0 at home. Then we played here and lost 3-1, even though we initially took the lead through Eberechi Eze’s free-kick. They were clearly the better side.”

“Looking at our last two games here, we have won. We lost at home 1-0, but in this match, we performed better than them. This reflects the development and progression of Crystal Palace, which is what I am focused on.”
