Everton eyeing bargain move for Ben White this summer

David Moyes is reportedly targeting Ben White as Everton FC look to strengthen their defence with a potential cut-price deal from Arsenal FC.

White’s future at Arsenal has come under increasing scrutiny after he slipped down the pecking order under manager Mikel Arteta.

The England international is now considering his options, with the possibility of leaving in search of more regular first-team football — something that has already attracted interest from multiple clubs.

According to reports, Everton are among the most eager suitors. Moyes is keen to add quality and versatility to his backline, and sees White — who can operate at right-back, centre-back, and even in midfield — as an ideal fit for his plans.

The Merseyside club had already attempted to sign the former Brighton & Hove Albion FC defender during the January transfer window but were unable to complete a deal. However, they are expected to return with a fresh approach in the summer.

White joined Arsenal in 2021 after impressing at Brighton and quickly became a key figure. Initially deployed as a centre-back, he was later converted into a right-back by Arteta and became a regular starter in that role. However, a knee injury last season disrupted his momentum, and since then, he has struggled to reclaim a consistent place in the starting lineup.

This campaign, the 28-year-old has featured in just 20 matches, accumulating under 1,200 minutes — a clear sign of his reduced role. While Arsenal were unwilling to let him leave mid-season, the situation could change in the summer.

Despite still having two years left on his contract, with an option for an additional year, White may push for a move to revive his career with more consistent playing time. Everton are closely monitoring developments, with Moyes prioritising the signing of a new right-back — and White remains at the top of their shortlist.

Arsenal are believed to be open to selling for a fee in the region of £20–25 million, a price that could represent excellent value for Everton if they manage to secure the deal.
