“I’ve never heard anything like that in a stadium,” Andrews said. “If this continues, it damages the respect for Leeds United. The Premier League needs to step in.”
He suggested the chant emerged during a crucial phase of the game and affected his players’ focus, making it harder for Brentford to carry out their tactical approach.
“We were in control and pushing for a winner,” he explained. “Then that chant started, and it completely shifted the rhythm. At this level, those details make a difference.”
Despite the stalemate, Andrews felt his side merited more from the encounter.
“We came here aiming to win,” he added. “Our structure was solid, and we were ready to finish the job. But it’s tough when external factors begin to influence the game.”
Both teams walked away with a point, but the controversy surrounding the crowd quickly became the main talking point.
Leeds United have yet to respond to the criticism, and the Premier League has not indicated whether it will investigate the incident. Still, Andrews made it clear he expects action.
“If the league wants to maintain respect across clubs, they must protect the integrity of the game,” he said. “Today it was us—next time, it could be someone else.”
