One Leicester City player stood out in their away win against Charlton Athletic—and it wasn’t Abdul Fatawu.

After taking the lead, Leicester weathered a late wave of pressure from Nathan Jones’ Charlton side. However, they held firm largely due to a standout performance from one hero between the sticks.

Jakub Stolarczyk proved to be the key difference for Leicester City against Charlton Athletic. While the Foxes kept a clean sheet, it was thanks to the goalkeeper’s exceptional efforts rather than a solid defensive display. Leicester’s backline looked vulnerable and could easily have been caught out multiple times.

For instance, Charlton defender Kayne Ramsey headed a strong chance from a set-piece, but Stolarczyk made an outstanding save, clutching the ball right on the goal line.

The Foxes may have pulled off a masterstroke by swapping Mads Hermansen for Jakub Stolarczyk. While Leicester’s recent transfer activity has been criticized for not doing enough to replace key departures, the decision to sell Hermansen to West Ham and install the composed and well-rounded Stolarczyk between the posts looks inspired.

If Stolarczyk continues to perform at this level, Leicester will have made a brilliant call by placing their trust in the goalkeeper whom manager Marti Cifuentes praised as “talented” to start in goal.
