Nottingham Forest in Talks to Sign Dominik Livakovic Before Transfer Deadline

Nottingham Forest have entered negotiations to sign Fenerbahce goalkeeper Dominik Livakovic ahead of the transfer deadline, according to The Guardian’s Will Unwin.

With head coach Nuno Espirito Santo eager to add more depth between the posts, the Croatian international has emerged as a top target to challenge current No.1 Matz Sels. Forest are actively looking for a reliable backup after the departures of Carlos Miguel and Wayne Hennessey earlier this summer.

Although Forest recently signed Angus Gunn on a free transfer, Nuno is reportedly pushing for another high-quality option in goal—and Livakovic fits the bill. If signed, he would become the club’s ninth addition of the summer window.

The 30-year-old lost his starting role under new Fenerbahce boss José Mourinho, who has preferred Irfan Can Egribayat at the beginning of the campaign. With Livakovic no longer first choice, the Turkish side is believed to be open to a sale, provided the offer is right.

Livakovic joined Fenerbahce from Dinamo Zagreb in 2023 and has since made 72 appearances, keeping 26 clean sheets and conceding 78 goals. Earning a reported £45,000 per week, the Croatian is said to be keen on testing himself in the Premier League.

His performances during the 2022 World Cup, where he helped Croatia finish third and was widely praised as “fantastic,” caught the eye of several Premier League scouts.

Forest’s management are said to be working hard behind the scenes to deliver on Nuno’s demands, especially after his public criticism of the club’s transfer strategy.

Alongside a new goalkeeper, the club is also pursuing two full-backs, with Aston Villa’s Matty Cash among the key targets before the September 1 deadline.

So far, Forest have spent around £140 million on summer signings, bringing in players like Igor Jesus, Dan Ndoye, Omari Hutchinson, James McAtee, Jair Cunha, and Arnaud Kalimuendo on permanent deals. Former Villa midfielder Douglas Luiz has also joined on loan from Juventus, with an obligation to buy next summer.

As the window nears its close, all signs point to Forest continuing their ambitious recruitment drive—and Livakovic could be the next major name through the door.
