Leicester City are working hard to retain several of their key players as the summer transfer window nears its conclusion.
The Foxes have shown interest in Feyenoord winger Calvin Stengs, but they are only expected to make a move if current attacking midfielder Bilal El Khannouss departs before the window closes.
It’s been a somewhat frustrating summer at the King Power Stadium, with noticeable gaps in the squad still unresolved. Manager Marti Cifuentes is preparing for his debut season in charge, aiming to guide the club back to the Premier League—but squad depth remains a concern.
Meanwhile, Leicester are facing growing interest in one of their defenders from local rivals Nottingham Forest.
Nottingham Forest Target Leicester’s Victor Kristiansen
Forest have intensified their pursuit of Danish left-back Victor Kristiansen, who has yet to feature for Leicester this season. According to Fabrizio Romano, Forest are currently in talks with the Foxes, following earlier reports of interest back in July.
Kristiansen, 22, joined Leicester from FC Copenhagen in January 2023 for a reported £17 million fee and signed a contract running until 2028. He made 30 Premier League appearances last season, providing one assist, but couldn’t help prevent Leicester’s relegation to the Championship.
The Denmark international spent last season on loan at Serie A side Bologna before returning to the East Midlands. However, with the club back in the second tier, Kristiansen may now be looking for a return to top-flight football—something that appears to align with Forest’s interest.
High Expectations When Signed
Kristiansen arrived at Leicester under then-manager Brendan Rodgers, who spoke highly of the defender at the time. Rodgers told BBC Sport:
“We’re delighted to have him, and he’s not just for now but for the future. He’s a very bright boy and has shown up very well.”
“He’s behind a little bit [following the 2022 World Cup], so we’ll see what game time he can get.”
Since his arrival, Kristiansen has experienced a turbulent period with relegation and a loan spell abroad. As the window nears its end on 1 September, his future at Leicester hangs in the balance—with Premier League football possibly beckoning once again.
