Eberechi Eze Tipped for Spurs Stardom as Summer Interest Grows
After firing home the winner in the FA Cup final against Manchester City in May, it’s no surprise Eberechi Eze is one of the most sought-after players in the summer transfer window.
The 26-year-old has been instrumental for Crystal Palace since joining from QPR in 2020, and his standout performances last season – culminating in the club’s historic FA Cup triumph – have put him firmly on the radar of several Premier League giants. Arsenal, Newcastle United, Aston Villa and Tottenham Hotspur have all been credited with interest.
Tottenham, now under new boss Thomas Frank following a turbulent campaign that saw them finish 17th in the league despite lifting the Europa League, are expected to be active in the market. They’ve already secured the permanent signing of Mathys Tel from Bayern Munich for £30 million, but face the possibility of losing captain Son Heung-min in the coming weeks.
Club legend Teddy Sheringham believes reinforcements are still needed and sees Eze as a potentially transformative signing.
“When you look at Tottenham’s first team, it’s quite formidable,” Sheringham said. “They had some terrible luck with injuries last season, but there’s definitely quality in the squad. Still, Thomas Frank will want to make his mark.”
Sheringham acknowledged Tel’s arrival as a statement of intent but questioned whether the young forward alone could replace a player like Son.
“Spending £30 million on a youngster like Tel means they expect big things. But they need more. Players like Eze would take the team up a level.”
In fact, Sheringham went as far as comparing Eze’s potential influence at Spurs to that of Eric Cantona at Manchester United in the early ’90s.
“He could walk into Tottenham and immediately feel at home,” Sheringham said. “He has the personality and quality to become the main man at the club, just like Cantona was at United. That’s exactly the kind of signing Spurs need right now.”
With Champions League football secured, Tottenham are in a position to make bold moves in the market — and Eze may be one of the headline names to watch.
