Sunderland Close to Signing Lincoln City Goalkeeper Isaac Allan Amid Broader Transfer Activity

Sunderland are on the verge of completing the signing of teenage goalkeeper Isaac Allan from Lincoln City, with sources indicating the deal is all but finalized, according to The Echo.

Allan, 18, was first linked with the Black Cats back in April following a trial stint at the Academy of Light. Since then, the club’s interest has grown significantly, and while there has yet to be an official announcement, the goalkeeper is expected to join Sunderland’s academy setup under the guidance of Robin Nicholls and sporting director Kristjaan Speakman.

Hailing from the Isle of Man, Allan took an unconventional path into professional football. Due to the island’s limited football infrastructure, he attended UK Football Trials to gain exposure, ultimately catching the attention of several clubs, including Sheffield United and Lincoln City. The latter offered him a scholarship and a chance to develop within their academy.

Over the past three years, Allan has steadily risen through the ranks at Lincoln, becoming a regular for their under-18 side and making appearances in the FA Youth Cup. His performances even earned him a spot on the bench for two League One fixtures last season, including a match against Bristol Rovers.

During his trial with Sunderland, Allan trained under coaches Fin Lynch and Jordan Moore as part of the under-18 setup. His displays reportedly impressed staff enough to pursue a permanent deal.

It’s understood that Lincoln may have offered Allan professional terms to stay, which means Sunderland could be required to pay a transfer fee or settle the deal through a tribunal, given Allan is under 24. Once finalized, he would join a growing list of young talents brought in as Sunderland continue to strengthen their youth ranks across the UK, Ireland, and beyond.

Further Sunderland Transfer Developments

Beyond Allan, Sunderland are being linked with several high-profile names in the transfer market.

According to SportItalia’s Gianluigi Longari, Sunderland are one of three Premier League clubs tracking Spanish left-back Angeliño, currently contracted to AS Roma. Crystal Palace and Bournemouth are also interested, but neither are prepared to exceed £10.1 million (€12 million), while Roma are demanding closer to £17 million (€20 million) to comply with UEFA’s Financial Fair Play regulations ahead of the June 30 deadline.

Corriere dello Sport suggests Sunderland might have an edge due to the recent appointment of former Roma sporting director Florent Ghisolfi, who helped bring Angeliño to Italy. However, reports also indicate that the player is currently dissatisfied with the offers presented by all three English clubs.

Meanwhile, journalist Fabrizio Romano has reported that Sunderland are in active talks with French club OGC Nice to sign Polish international goalkeeper Marcin Bulka. The 25-year-old, under contract until 2026, could also be available for a fee in the region of £17 million (€20 million).
