Leeds United Eye Move for Out-of-Favour Juventus Midfielder Douglas Luiz

Leeds United are reportedly exploring a summer move for 27-year-old Brazilian midfielder Douglas Luiz, who is currently out of favour at Serie A side Juventus. Italian outlet Calciomercato claims the Whites are eager to strengthen their midfield and have identified Luiz as a potential addition.
Having struggled to make an impact in Turin, Luiz is no longer part of Juventus’ long-term plans.
Leeds have already made contact with the player’s representatives to explore the possibility of a transfer. Manchester United are also reportedly monitoring the situation and could emerge as surprise contenders.
Difficult Year in Italy
Luiz joined Juventus from Aston Villa last summer, but the move hasn’t gone as planned. Despite his eagerness to play for the Italian giants, the midfielder managed less than 1,000 minutes across 27 appearances in all competitions. With game time limited and his role diminishing, Juventus are prepared to offload the Brazilian after just one season.
Despite his struggles, interest in Luiz remains high, with Leeds among the clubs keen to bring him in this summer.
Premier League Return on the Cards?
Leeds’ interest in Luiz comes as the club looks to bolster its squad ahead of their return to the Premier League, following their 2024/25 EFL Championship title win. A versatile and dynamic midfielder is high on the club’s wishlist, with other names like Habib Diarra also under consideration.
Talks between Leeds and Luiz’s camp have already begun, though they may face competition from Manchester United, who are also believed to be keeping tabs on the situation.
As Luiz appears set to leave Juventus, all eyes will be on whether Leeds can persuade the former Aston Villa star to make a return to English football at Elland Road.
