Everton’s hunt for a new striker is expected to stretch into July, with several complications hampering progress so far.

Finding a new number nine is proving to be a significant challenge, particularly as clubs across Europe are also actively pursuing striker reinforcements.
One such target now appears out of reach. VfB Stuttgart’s sporting director has firmly stated that striker Nick Woltemade — a player Everton are seriously interested in — is not available for transfer.
Stuttgart Declare Nick Woltemade Off Limits
Everton are one of many European clubs eyeing German sensation Nick Woltemade, whose performances at the U21 Euros have turned heads. But Stuttgart’s sporting director Fabian Wohlgemuth has firmly shut down any speculation over a possible move.
Speaking to BILD, he said:
> “The fact that this development hasn’t gone unnoticed and that we now read about interest from other clubs almost every day doesn’t change the fact that Nick’s journey with us is far from over.
We are firmly planning with Nick and we want to benefit from his sporting qualities in the coming year as well. There’s no alternative scenario for this.”
With elite clubs like Bayern Munich also monitoring the 22-year-old forward, competition would have been fierce — but it now appears Stuttgart have no intention of selling, at least for this summer.
Everton Turn Focus to Thierno Barry
After losing out on Liam Delap, who opted for a move to Chelsea, Everton have quickly pivoted in their pursuit of alternatives. The club is now pushing to secure a deal for Villarreal’s Thierno Barry, another standout at the U21 Euros.
With Woltemade off the market, Barry has become Everton’s top striker target. The club is expected to wait until July, when the new Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR) window opens, before finalizing further transfer business — but talks for Barry are understood to be ongoing.
If Everton want to avoid another setback in the market, wrapping up a deal for Barry swiftly will be crucial.
