According to journalist Graeme Bailey, speaking to Molineux News, it’s increasingly likely that the 30-year-old will depart, with a return abroad — possibly to former club Benfica — on the cards.
With Semedo’s future uncertain, Wolves have turned their attention to possible replacements, and one of the names under consideration is Southampton’s Kyle Walker-Peters. The 27-year-old is nearing the end of his contract at St Mary’s and is reportedly attracting interest from a host of clubs including Everton, Fulham, Leeds United, and Tottenham Hotspur.
“There are a lot of clubs interested in Walker-Peters,” Bailey explained. “Wolves are among them, but he’s in a position where he can weigh his options. Wolves’ move will ultimately depend on what happens with Semedo. While they’ve made him an offer, the belief is that he’s more likely to leave.”
Wolves will need to act swiftly to secure a capable replacement should Semedo leave, and Walker-Peters appears to tick all the right boxes in terms of Premier League experience and quality. With survival and stability the key goals for the upcoming season, the club must strengthen key areas of the squad to avoid being dragged into a relegation battle.
