Wolves’ Summer Clear-Out Continues as Bundesliga Giants Battle for Fabio Silva

Wolverhampton Wanderers have already begun their summer shake-up, with several players heading for the exit and more departures expected in the coming weeks.

The Molineux outfit has parted ways with Matheus Cunha, Rayan Aït-Nouri, Pablo Sarabia, and Craig Dawson. Meanwhile, Carlos Forbs has returned to Ajax following a disappointing loan spell.

But the exodus is far from over.

Tommy Doyle is close to sealing a move to Birmingham City after failing to impress new manager Vitor Pereira, while forwards Gonçalo Guedes and Hwang Hee-chan are also attracting interest and could leave before the window closes.

Among the most notable names on the way out is Fabio Silva, who is poised to end his five-year stint with Wolves.

Bundesliga Battle for Fabio Silva

Silva, who joined Wolves from FC Porto for £35 million in 2020, spent the 2024/25 season on loan at Las Palmas. He enjoyed a productive spell in Spain, featuring regularly and finding the net with consistency — a much-needed boost to his value.

Wolves are reportedly seeking around £21 million for the 22-year-old striker — significantly less than what they originally paid, but a decent return given his mixed time in England.

According to journalist Rudy Galetti, German heavyweights RB Leipzig and Borussia Dortmund are locked in a fierce battle to secure Silva’s signature. Galetti posted on X:

> “It’s a head-to-head race between RB Leipzig and BVB for Fabio Silva. Both clubs are pushing to sign the striker who will leave Wolves during the summer. Other teams are in the mix but behind for now.”



Wolves Eyeing Windfall from Silva Sale

A move to the Bundesliga would mark the next step in Silva’s nomadic career, which has already seen him play in Portugal, England, Belgium, the Netherlands, Scotland, and Spain.

Both Leipzig and Dortmund offer European football — a key factor in Silva’s decision — with Dortmund particularly renowned for nurturing young attacking talent and turning them into stars.

Wolves, meanwhile, will be hoping that the interest from both clubs drives up the asking price. Maximising the fee for Silva will be crucial, as the funds can be reinvested into new signings as Vitor Pereira looks to reshape the squad.
