“Breaking News; Sunderland in talks with OGC Nice’s Melvin Bard”

Sunderland in Talks to Sign OGC Nice Left-Back Melvin Bard

Sunderland are in discussions to sign 24-year-old OGC Nice left-back Melvin Bard, according to RMC Sport journalist Fabrice Hawkins.

The newly promoted Premier League side have shown a clear intent to target the French market this summer.

They’ve already secured the signing of midfielder Habib Diarra from RC Strasbourg Alsace. A deal for goalkeeper Marcin Bulka was reportedly close before Neom SC intervened.

Up front, Sunderland are also exploring options, with FC Nantes’ Matthis Abline and Olympique Lyonnais’ Georges Mikautadze among the names under consideration.

In their pursuit of defensive reinforcements, Sunderland have submitted a contract offer to Bard—believed to be a four-year deal with the option of a fifth. However, no agreement has been reached at this stage.

Hawkins reports that Bard has also attracted interest from two other Premier League clubs. While OGC Nice would prefer to keep the Frenchman—especially with Champions League qualifiers on the horizon—their decision may ultimately hinge on the strength of offers received.
