Ríos looks to possess many of the attributes the Hammers’ midfield currently lacks, and fans may have already seen glimpses of his talent during Palmeiras’ Club World Cup campaign, where they’re set to face Chelsea on Saturday.
West Ham’s good relationship with Palmeiras could prove to be a key factor in any potential deal.
Reports from South America suggest the Hammers have already seen a €25 million bid for Ríos rejected. While these claims haven’t yet been verified by Claret & Hugh, there’s no doubt the club’s interest is real.
It’s also believed that West Ham have submitted two offers for unnamed players—one likely for Malick Diouf—which further supports the idea that their pursuit of Ríos is serious.
There is expected to be strong competition from clubs in the Saudi Pro League, whose transfer window is about to open, but West Ham remain firmly in the race for Ríos’ signature.
