Sunderland’s interest has been long-standing, and the club has already lodged a formal bid believed to have exceeded Almería’s expectations, sources close to the Spanish side claim.
However, Portuguese outlet A Bola reports that the striker’s future remains uncertain. Sporting CP are monitoring the situation closely as they await a possible departure of Viktor Gyökeres. Should the Swedish striker move on, Suárez is seen as their primary replacement. While only Sporting are said to have made a formal approach, this contradicts earlier claims from Spanish journalist Jose Gomez Perez, who reported that Sunderland’s offer was the only official bid to surpass Almería’s internal valuation. Despite this, the La Liga club are believed to be holding out for around €25 million (£21.1 million), a figure Sporting consider too high for now.
