With the Premier League season just under two weeks away, Nottingham Forest are actively pursuing new signings to strengthen their squad.
Following the departure of Anthony Elanga to Newcastle, Forest have gained momentum, particularly after securing Morgan Gibbs-White on a new contract. The club recently completed the £37 million signing of Dan Ndoye from Bologna, and further additions are expected before the season opener against Brentford at the City Ground.
Manager Nuno Espirito Santo is reportedly targeting four more signings to bolster his squad.
Forest Competing with Wolves for Juanlu Sanchez
According to Tutto Mercato Web, Forest are eyeing Sevilla right-back Juanlu Sanchez, although Wolves are also keen on securing the 21-year-old. Napoli had shown interest earlier this summer but have since withdrawn from the race.
Sanchez, who made 35 appearances last season, contributed five goals and five assists — an impressive output for a defender. Valued at around £18 million, he would offer strong competition for Ola Aina on the right side of defense.
However, Wolves are currently thought to be leading the race for his signature, meaning Forest may need to act quickly to stay in contention.
Reinforcements Needed in Full-Back Positions
Despite having Ola Aina and Neco Williams as starting full-backs, Forest are relatively short on depth in those areas. Any new arrival is likely to serve as a backup initially, which could complicate negotiations with prospective signings.
Nonetheless, it’s believed Forest are in need of at least two new full-backs to provide adequate cover for the demanding season ahead.
Sanchez has four senior caps for Spain, which makes his £18 million valuation appear to be excellent value. Forest will be hoping to complete further business before the opening fixture of the campaign.
