Kellen Fisher has emerged as a player of interest for David Moyes’ Everton, posing what could be Liam Manning’s first significant challenge since taking charge at Norwich City.
The 21-year-old right-back, who joined Norwich from National League side Bromley two years ago, has become an integral part of the squad at Carrow Road. In the 2024/25 season, Fisher made 41 appearances across all competitions, contributing four assists. His strong performances earned him a new long-term deal, keeping him at the club until 2028, with an option to extend for another year.
According to Football Insider, Everton are exploring options to strengthen the right side of their defence, especially with veteran Seamus Coleman entering his 17th season at Goodison Park. Fisher has reportedly made it onto their shortlist.
Lee Hendrie Weighs in on Potential Move
Former Aston Villa midfielder and Sky Sports pundit Lee Hendrie shared his views with Football League World on the potential transfer, noting that while interest in Fisher is expected, Norwich will be hesitant to let him go.
“It’s no surprise clubs are after him,” Hendrie said. “Given Norwich’s current position, especially after last season’s poor finish, they’ll be keen to hold on to key players.”
The Canaries finished a disappointing 13th in the Championship last season and have seen some significant departures. Fisher’s versatility — being able to operate at both full-back positions and in central midfield — makes him even more attractive to a Premier League side like Everton.
Financially, Fisher’s current weekly wage is believed to be around £7.5k, which would place him among Everton’s lowest earners, even with a salary increase — making the move a potentially cost-effective one for the Toffees.
Loan-Back Option Suggested
Hendrie proposed that a compromise could work for both clubs.
“There might be a deal where Everton buy him and loan him back to Norwich,” he said. “That’s something you’d definitely consider. But when you look at Everton’s squad, he could genuinely push for a place in the starting XI.”
So far, Manning has added 11 new signings during the transfer window, but only Jeffrey Schlupp is a natural full-back. While the new manager admitted in an interview with BBC Radio Norfolk that “a few will leave” before the window shuts, it seems unlikely that Fisher was among those he had in mind.
Norwich Unlikely to Sell – Unless the Price Is Right
Fisher began the new season on the bench in Norwich’s opening game against Millwall, playing just seven minutes. However, he started and featured for 82 minutes in the Carabao Cup win over Watford, suggesting he remains a key figure in Manning’s plans.
Hendrie believes Norwich won’t be quick to part ways with him — unless a significant offer is made.
“It’s a tough call. I don’t think Norwich will be willing to sell, but if the right price comes in, I can see it happening,” Hendrie said. “They’ve got a clear model of developing players and moving them on.”
He concluded by stressing that if Norwich hope to compete this season, they should prioritize keeping hold of players like Fisher.
FLW’s Norwich City fan pundit Zeke Downes echoed Hendrie’s sentiment, stating the club should not entertain any offers for Fisher. Still, given Norwich’s track record of cashing in on talent, fans may not be shocked if a lucrative bid tempts the club into selling once again.
