McKenna Confident McAteer Will Be Key for Ipswich
Ipswich confirmed the signing of Kasey McAteer from fellow relegated side Leicester City on Friday, as they look to fill the gap left by Omari Hutchinson.
The 23-year-old endured a tough week at Deepdale, suffering two defeats—first with Leicester, then coming off the bench to make his debut for Ipswich on Saturday. Though he couldn’t influence the outcome, McKenna believes McAteer will play a significant role this season.
“I think he’s a really good fit for us,” McKenna said. “At 23, he’s a great age. He’s gained valuable experience both in the Championship and the Premier League.”
“He was a late physical developer, but now he’s strong, quick, and powerful. There’s still room for him to grow, but physically, he’s already capable of producing top-level performances.”
McKenna added, “We’re excited to work with him, and we believe he’ll be a key contributor both this season and in the future.”
McAteer’s arrival boosts Ipswich’s options on the right flank, with Wes Burns still sidelined through injury and Chiedozie Ogbene working his way back to full fitness.
