Nottingham Forest have reportedly made a formal offer for a high-profile player personally requested by manager Nuno Espírito Santo, as negotiations continue.

Despite uncertainty surrounding his own position, Nuno is pushing ahead with transfer business.

The Portuguese manager is expected to meet with club owner Evangelos Marinakis to discuss his future at the City Ground, after admitting publicly that their relationship has changed.

In the meantime, Nuno remains focused on team matters, stating:

“I am working and trying to do my job the best I can. I’ve had good conversations [with Marinakis and Edu] to help build a strong platform for the team.”

Whether Nuno remains in charge beyond the summer transfer window is still unclear. However, he enjoyed visible support from traveling fans during the recent 1-1 draw with Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.

While recent off-field developments haven’t reflected well on Marinakis, the Forest owner has nonetheless supported the manager with investment in the squad—and more signings could be on the horizon.

According to Sporx (via Sport Witness), Forest have submitted an offer for Fenerbahce goalkeeper Dominik Livakovic, a player Nuno has personally targeted to provide competition for current No.1 Matz Sels.

However, securing Livakovic’s signature may prove challenging. The Croatian international is reportedly keen to be a guaranteed starter—something Forest cannot offer with Sels still between the sticks.

Additionally, the club is said to be struggling to meet the 30-year-old’s wage demands, which could force them to explore alternative options.

Livakovic’s Experience Could Boost Forest’s Ambitions

While Nuno is not necessarily looking to replace Sels, bringing in a capable and experienced backup is part of his strategy. Livakovic fits that profile well.

The Croatian goalkeeper has earned 66 international caps and was hailed as a “big-game” player by Statman Dave for his standout performance against Brazil in the 2022 World Cup.

In addition to his World Cup heroics, Livakovic boasts 51 appearances in the Europa League and Champions League, offering the kind of top-level experience that could prove invaluable as Forest prepare for a European campaign.

Fenerbahce signed the Zadar-born keeper for €6.65m (£6m), and while he could be an excellent addition, missing out wouldn’t be disastrous for Forest.

With the dependable Matz Sels already in place, the club is well-covered in goal—but Livakovic would certainly raise the level of competition.
