Nottingham Forest Submit Bid for Pace-Driven Defender as Transfer Talks Continue

Despite growing uncertainty surrounding Nuno Espírito Santo’s future at the club, Nottingham Forest are pushing ahead with their transfer business, having submitted an offer for a quick and talented defender.

Forest Continue Business Despite Managerial Uncertainty

Recent tensions between head coach Nuno and club owner Evangelos Marinakis have sparked speculation about a potential change in management, with some reports linking Ange Postecoglou as a possible successor.

However, operations at the City Ground remain focused on strengthening the squad ahead of the Europa League campaign, with Forest actively working to make the most of the remaining days in the summer transfer window.

While the club has already made several notable signings, full-back remains an area in need of reinforcements. Nuno is keen to add depth on both sides of the defense.

Earlier this week, progress was reported in Forest’s pursuit of Leicester City left-back Victor Kristiansen. Now, attention has turned to the opposite flank.

Forest Make Offer for Juventus Right-Back

According to Gazzetta dello Sport (via Sport Witness), Nottingham Forest have submitted a €12 million (£10 million) bid for Juventus right-back Nicolo Savona.

The offer was rejected, with the Italian giants holding out for a package worth around €20 million (£17 million). However, negotiations remain active, and the two clubs are expected to find common ground.

Journalist Gianluca Di Marzio also confirmed the ongoing discussions, with Juventus reportedly open to a sale.

Savona is being considered as a fallback option after Sevilla’s José Ángel Carmona expressed a desire to stay with his boyhood club rather than pursue a move to the Premier League. Despite this, Carmona remains Forest’s preferred target.

Carmona Still Forest’s Ideal Option

There is still a chance Carmona could reconsider his stance, which would be a significant boost for Forest.

The 22-year-old Spaniard boasts a stronger defensive record than Savona over the past year and brings more experience at the senior level.

He has amassed 96 first-team appearances across stints with Sevilla, Getafe, and Elche CF, compared to Savona’s 40 appearances for Juventus.

Juventus manager Igor Tudor has previously praised Savona, describing him as “professional” with “great football intelligence” and “great speed.” Tudor added: “He’s a humble guy who listens and values advice—traits that are becoming increasingly rare.”

Still, with Carmona’s overall profile and performance edge, Forest would be wise to prioritize persuading the Sevilla defender before the transfer window closes.
