Luke Woolfenden has penned a heartfelt message to Ipswich Town supporters after completing his transfer to Coventry City.

The 25-year-old defender leaves Portman Road in a deal worth around £4 million, seeking more consistent playing time under Frank Lampard at the CBS Arena.

Woolfenden departs his boyhood club after 16 years of service, rising through the academy ranks to make 215 senior appearances. He played a key role in Ipswich’s remarkable back-to-back promotions, culminating in their return to the Premier League.

Reflecting on his departure, Woolfenden said:
“It’s been an absolute honour to wear the shirt of my hometown club for so many years. When I first joined the academy as a kid, I never imagined I’d go on to make so many appearances for the first team — let alone be part of such an incredible journey.”

“There have been highs and lows, but being part of two successive promotions to the Premier League is something I’ll never forget. Those memories will stay with me forever.”

He continued by expressing his gratitude:
“I’ve been lucky to work with so many great people and teammates — many of whom have become lifelong friends. I’m truly thankful for that.”

“It will definitely feel strange not being an Ipswich player anymore, but this club will always mean a lot to me.”
