Norwich City Could Still Lose a Player Despite Transfer Window Closure

Although the transfer window has closed in England as of September 1, it remains open in other parts of the world—meaning Norwich City may yet lose one of their players.

A member of the Canaries squad has now been linked with a move away from Carrow Road to a club in Africa, despite the domestic deadline having passed.

Norwich aren’t alone in this situation. Blackburn Rovers, for instance, could still lose Makhtar Gueye to a club in Turkey.

However, Norwich boss Liam Manning is more concerned about his own squad, particularly the potential departure of one of his midfielders.

Anis Ben Slimane Linked with Loan Move to ES Tunis

Norwich midfielder Anis Ben Slimane, who has been out of favour at the club, is reportedly being considered for a loan move to Tunisian giants Esperance Sportive de Tunis.

Despite the English window being closed, ES Tunis can still make signings until their local deadline on September 20.

According to Tunisian outlet Nessma Sport, as cited by Pink Un, the former African Champions League winners are eyeing a short-term deal for the Tunisian international.

Manager Liam Manning has previously expressed satisfaction with his current midfield setup, and it’s been made clear that Slimane is not part of his plans moving forward.

Shane Duffy Likely to Stay at Carrow Road—for Now

Slimane isn’t the only player Manning had hoped to move on this summer. Defender Shane Duffy was also expected to leave the club, but no deal materialised before the English window closed.

Given the limited time and fewer open windows abroad, a move for Duffy now appears unlikely—at least until January. The Republic of Ireland international, who still harbours hopes of featuring at the 2026 World Cup, may look back on this missed opportunity with some regret.
