“I just didn’t think it was the right time to shake things up even more. The core of the team was still together, so there was some cohesion and understanding, rather than just throwing players in.”

Still, Postecoglou saw encouraging signs from some of the substitutes, noting that their performances offered promise for the near future.

“The guys who came on showed a bit of brightness and potential, which is great for us,” he added. “We’ve got plenty of games coming up, and they’ll all get a chance.”
