Bournemouth Boss Andoni Iraola Highlights Key Leeds Statistic Ahead of Premier League Clash

Bournemouth head coach Andoni Iraola has singled out one important statistic about Leeds United ahead of his team’s upcoming Premier League visit to Elland Road.

Leeds boast an impressive home record against Bournemouth, having never lost a league match at Elland Road against the South Coast side.

The Whites have also made a strong start to their home campaign this season, keeping a clean sheet in every Premier League game at Elland Road so far. If Leeds manage to keep Bournemouth at bay this weekend, they will equal a defensive record last set by Watford back in 2015.

Adding to Leeds’ strength, manager Daniel Farke confirmed that Jayden Bogle and Dan James could both feature, giving a boost to the team’s options on the right flank.

Iraola, however, is well aware of the challenge ahead and described the trip to Leeds as a “dangerous game” for his in-form Bournemouth side.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference, Iraola praised Leeds’ solid start to life back in the top flight and referenced their formidable 22-game unbeaten run at home.

“I think tomorrow’s game is going to be very tough,” Iraola said. “I trust our chances because I see my team playing well and performing. But when you look at the facts, Leeds haven’t conceded a goal in their last two home Premier League matches. In fact, I’d say they haven’t really allowed many chances. Their defensive performance has been outstanding.”

He added, “Their last home defeat was over a year ago. That’s an incredible record. We’re going to a place where the atmosphere is intense. I’ve never played there, but everyone talks about the noise, the pressure from the start, and how they keep pushing every opportunity. We must be prepared and avoid mistakes.”

“It’s going to be a demanding game — both mentally and physically — because Leeds are a hardworking and honest team with a high work rate. It’s a dangerous fixture for us.”

Leeds vs Bournemouth: Who’s the Top Scorer?

Leeds and Bournemouth have met only 16 times in league history, as their paths have rarely crossed in recent years.

Consequently, only a few Leeds players have scored multiple league goals against Bournemouth. The top scorers list is short, with just two players netting more than once.

Leading scorers for Leeds against Bournemouth are:

  • Lewis Grabban – 3 goals
  • Ross McCormack – 2 goals
  • Tresor Kandol – 2 goals

Interestingly, former Bournemouth striker Lewis Grabban holds the record for most goals in league matches between the two teams, having scored three times, according to Transfermarkt.
