Zinchenko Suffers Injury Blow, Set to Miss Ukraine’s October Fixtures
Nottingham Forest left-back Oleksandr Zinchenko has sustained an adductor muscle injury and will miss Ukraine’s upcoming international matches, according to TaToTake via Ukrainian journalist Zorya Londonsk.
Zinchenko, who joined Forest on loan from Arsenal late in the summer transfer window, has quickly established himself as a key player under new manager Ange Postecoglou.
The Ukrainian international has already started four matches, securing the left-back role in the starting XI.
Although Zinchenko has yet to taste victory since his arrival, regular game time has been a positive for the 26-year-old after falling out of favour at Arsenal. However, that run could now be interrupted by injury.
Reports suggest the adductor issue may have been sustained during Forest’s recent Premier League defeat to Sunderland.
Zinchenko played the full 90 minutes in that match, and it remains unclear whether the injury occurred during the game or in training afterward.
The extent of the injury is still uncertain. It’s possible he’s being rested as a precaution ahead of the international break, but he is expected to be sidelined for at least the short term.
Forest face a busy schedule in the coming weeks, starting with a Europa League clash against Danish side Midtjylland on Thursday, followed by a Premier League fixture away to Newcastle United on Sunday.
Should Zinchenko remain unavailable, he may also miss Forest’s matches after the international break — including a home game against Chelsea and a European tie against Porto.
Zinchenko is reportedly earning around £120,000 per week while on loan at the City Ground.
With his influence growing in the squad, his absence could be a significant setback for Postecoglou, who is still searching for consistency since taking over from Nuno Espirito Santo.
